I am flying to New Hampshire tomorrow! My dad called me on Wednesday night and asked if I wanted to come out for a few weeks. My sister just had knee surgery and she basically needs me to work for her at her nanny job so she can have more time to heal. It was last minute but since I lost my job it will be nice to make a little money. My boss had her hours cut to part time so she didn't need me anymore.

Travis decided to join the army reserves. He hasn't had any luck with the job search and the reserves will not only bring in some money but also give him experience and they will pay for college. It's not the most ideal situation but I hope it will help us out in the long run. He will be leaving on July 14th for boot camp which lasts 9 weeks and the his individual training is 25 weeks!!! I'm going to miss him SO much and I'm not even sure how I'm going to manage but I just know I will somehow. Hopefully I will find another job soon so I can keep myself busy.

Frustration

Travis is still waiting on the CO job. There's only a few more things he needs to have done after he passes the background check but they haven't contacted him in a while. We also just heard that his cousin who is a CO had to take a pay cut and that they are supposed to be laying off a bunch of people within the next year. That's not the kind of news we wanted to hear as he is going through the hiring process. Ugh..why does this have to be so hard? We weren't expecting to stay this long at my in-laws and its really starting to get to me. I just want my own space! My job has been going well but I know I'm never going to get as many hours as I want. My boss basically gave me permission to start looking for something else. They are going to need me a lot during the summer when the kids are out of school but after that they said they probably wouldn't need me at all. She's been asking her friends if they need a nanny so she can keep me as long as she needs me but so far I haven't heard anything. I reposted my profile on a nanny site I use but last time I looked there were only 4 or 5 families and nothing really seemed to fit. I'm thankful I at least have a job but I wish I was working full time and making enough for us to at least rent an apartment even though we want to save up for a house. I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens...

Big Updates

So much has happened since I last posted. It's been quite busy with our move to Arizona and all. Oh yes, we moved. I didn't want to post about it here since it was a surprise to pretty much everyone in AZ. We had been going back and forth about it since just before the wedding but finally decided it was the best thing to do. We told my family on Thanksgiving since everyone was there and it would be easier than telling everyone seperatly. They were sad but supportive. I took my last final for school on Dec. 18th. I was supposed to have a final on the 19th as well but that one was cancelled due to weather which was awesome! We were supposed to get our stuff picked up by the moving company on the 19th but they called and said they wouldn't get there til the morning of the 20th. There was a big snow storm so we didn't think too much about it and just wanted to get our stuff moved out and be on our way. We started our drive late Saturday afternoon and stopped to see my grandmother on the way. We were supposed to leave friday and drive to Philly to see my brother and his fiance and spend the day with them Saturday but we just got to stay the night Sat. and go to breakfast on Sunday morning. Sunday we drove to our hotel in Tennessee and Monday we drove to Arkansas. We stayed in Super 8's to keep it cheap. Tuesday we got to stay in a Hilton Hotel for our Christmas present from my Dad in Texas. It was sooo nice. I was craving Red Robin the whole way since we don't have any i NH and when we got to the hotel there was one right next door! In our hotel there was a seperate bedroom, living room, and small kitchen. On wednesday we drove the final leg to AZ. We walked right into my in-laws house and surprised them. We said we were just there for Christmas and would be leaving in a few days. They believed us and on Christmas morning we told them we had moved and we went to get our cars at a friends house. They were very surprised and I was so glad they didn't figure it out.

Not long after our move we decided we wanted to get a puppy! Travis' mom found an ad online and we went to see some german shepherd mix puppies. There were 3 left and we picked the white girl and named her Keira. She is so cute but very stubborn. She doesn't like when we tell her no! She is very smart and learns new tricks fast.

We were having trouble finding jobs for a while. Travis decided to apply to be a correctional officer and is now going through the process and hopefully will get a job. I finally found a nanny job and I will be working for 2 families who are close friends which works out so I get more hours. I won't get as many to start since they still have their old nanny there until May. The kids seem really great and I will be doing a lot of housework and errands too. It's been nice having family to depend on while we aren't working but I can't wait to get our own place again!

It's been a while. Not much has been going on lately. I'm just trying to finish up school. I can't believe how this semester has flown by. There's only 2 weeks until finals and then I am done! Well with my undergrad at least..then it's off to grad school to do what I really want to do.

Travis and I went to my parents house for Thanksgiving. The food was great and I got to play with my little cousins. My aunt taught Ethan this... he's 3. haha



He is too cute! I wish they didn't live so far away so I could see them more often. They absolutely adore Travis.

On Saturday we went back to my parents house to hang out with my brother, his fiance and a few of Allan's friend from Teen Challenge. We ate some pizza and played rock band and Battle of the Sexes. My mom even got into rock band and sang some. haha it was no surprise she didn't know any of the songs. We had a good time even though the boys ended up winning Battle of the Sexes because they got a wild card that told them to go to the end! haha but it was fun.

Well I've got to go eat and get ready for work!

Pulling an All-nighter

Friday night Travis and I went with our youthgroup to an all-night event called the Word of Life Superbowl. I've been a bunch of times with my old youth group but this was my first time being a leader. We each had a group, I had 6 girls and Travis had 7 boys and Travis drove one of the vans. First we went to see the Manchester Monarchs hockey game. It was fun but they ended up losing by 1 in a shoot-out. After all the youth groups stayed in the arena while everyone else left. They had a short message and then played some games where the kids could win prizes. A lot of the kids in our group got up after the message to talk to counselors about salvation and a few filled out a form that said they had accepted Christ. After that we went to an indoor sports complex around 1am. There were some blow-up games and also football, soccer, and dogeball. We also got free pizza. At 3am we left for bowling and stayed there until 6am. It was a looong night but it was still fun. When we got home we slept until about 12ish and then forced ourselves to get up so we would sleep that night. We must have been more tired than we thought because neither of us woke up to the alarm this morning and ended up missing church! We ended up going on a boat ride with my dad. It was freezing!! We only saw one other boat on the lake while we were out there so that was cool. We are going to get on the webcam soon so we can talk to our niece Riley.

On thursday I got to take the kids to see the Wiggles! They were all so excited! I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. Vincent (he's 5 and has Angleman's) doesn't do well with crowds so he had a small meltdown when we got inside but his mom was able to calm him down and we made it to our seats without much trouble. When the music started and the lights went down Vin started to cry! He was a little scared and it was so sad! But once the Wiggles came out he got excited and didn't cry the rest of the time! It was so cute to see all the kids dancing and singing. Friday I got to see the kids in their costumes before they went out with their dad trick-or-treating. Vin was spiderman, Madison was a pink flamingo, and Jack was the cutest penguin!

Travis and I just went out to dinner on Halloween. We went to the 99 since its one of our favorites and we hadn't been there in a while. I started off with the chicken and corn chowder and it was delicious! We both ordered steak tips and chicken fingers and I have to say I wasn't too impressed.

In other news...I think I have caught the baby bug! haha now I know now is not a good time since I'm still in school and we don't make that much money. I just keep hearing about people getting pregnant and I just can't wait to be a mom! I really didn't think I would want it this much already but since I've been married (and know it could realistically happen anytime) it's been on my mind. Plus my FIL keeps asking us when we are going to have a cousin for Riley to play with! He also bet that we would be pregnant 2 months after we got married but thankfully we made it past that! I guess we will just have to wait until God decides it's the right time.

October has just flown by for me! Classes are still going pretty good although most days i really just don't want to get out of bed. I've been fighting off a cold(possible allergies too) for a few days and have been having really bad headaches on the left side of my head. Thankfully I feel much better today. :) I definitely need lots of energy working with kids!
